My Story

My name is Gussie Bryan. I live in New York City, but was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. I have a passion for baking, and I hope to share the love and joy it brings me with you through my products. 

My grandmother - Sue Agnor, from Lexington, Virginia - was a locally renowned home baker. She was famous for her caramel cakes, which she made for W&L and VMI students, family and friends. My grandmother passed away long before I was born, but her passion to bake and share delicious treats with love is a legacy my own mother instilled in me, and something I wish to bring to life in Le Papillon. 

Le Papillon means "The Butterfly" in French. It's a symbol for transformation and new life. My grandmother may not be around to see the influence she has had on me, but my hope is that her love for baking and sharing that joy with others will bloom into something beautiful through my company.
